How did i start to make knives?

How did I start making knives? Well, I come from an artistic family background. My dad and mum were professional architects. My older brother is a typographer and my sister also graduated as an interior architect. I studied architecture at university myself, but dropped out after a few years. Something about it just didn't click with me. I began working as an IT technician and stuck with it for a long time. But deep down inside, there was something missing in my life.

My dad is also good with his hands. When I was young, we would always make something out of wood together during the spring and summer months. I loved to help him. And I loved using my hands for more than just typing on the keyboard. All my life, I've always had a fascination with knives. And so one late winter in 2014/2015, my good friend and I purchased some files and a bar of steel to make some knives for ourselves. And that's when it all started. That same year, we purchased a smaller 50x1500mm belt grinder and began our journey in making custom knives. It's still a hobby, but it's starting to take up more and more of my time.

Upon special request from my friends, who were more interested in kitchen knives, I began to steer more towards that direction and made a lot more of them than any other type of knife. But that doesn't hold me back. I'm always striving to get better at every type of knife.
